Dr. Volker Matys
Volker holds the position of Product Manager of BKL TRANSFAC. He joined BIOBASE in 1998 as one of its first employees.
Volker holds a Ph.D. in Biology, with a major in genetics and minors in biochemistry, microbiology, and data processing & statistics. After five years of experimental research at St. George's Hospital Medical School, London, U.K., for which he received his Ph.D. at the University of Freiburg, Germany, Volker joined BIOBASE GmbH in 1998 as one of the first employees.
He has been working on TRANSFAC®, BIOBASE's first, and one of its foremost, products, for more than 10 years. He has contributed to TRANSFAC as a database curator, as editor who trained and supervised new curators, and since 2002 as product manager. His responsibilities included over the years product development, quality management, customer support, as well as the preparation of marketing material and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and at scientific conferences.
